Last Month's Activities:
There was plenty to keep our members busy during May and I am pleasedf to report that the May Bazaar went off well - NO RAIN!
Ther films shown were very well received and the acting in "A Beautiful Life" made up for the subtitles, as the film was all in Italian. It is no wonder it received such acclaim when it was released.
Our Poetry Sessions go from strength to strength and have been a barrel of laughs recently and even Dr Suess has played his part in the entertainment.

This Month Films:
Both this months films are not to be missed with all the Andrew Lloyd Webber music in Joseph. The making of this movie is well worth a look when playing the cd.
Charlie Wilson's War is a diofferent story, showing lots of scenes based upon fact and covers the Cold War with Russia period.

Early Australian Entrepreneurs:
This will explore some of the people, including Sir William Manning & Henry Dangar together with T S Mort & Benjamin Buchanan. It will briefly touch on the exploration and development of New South Wales as a result of these peoples entepreneurial skills in setting up large grazing areas and agriculural empires North & South of Sydney in the early 1800's It will cover the Manning Brothers interests in coastal Shipping, a quick look at the Australian Agricultural Company, The development of the Eden Monaro area, The early Wool Trade and the export of frozen meats.
Obviouisly in 2 hours it can only be a potted version of early Aussie History.

Meet the Council:
Bree Dennis will continue the story of Coucil's involvement in youth entertainment and education in Taree and surrounding areas, which was started by Graham Kellner in an earlier talk.

General:
So you can see folks there is lots to entertain you in your local Seniors group.
As a Non Council sponsored group, we are pleased to advise you that unlike many of our associates, Hallidays Point District Senior Citizens Assn Inc is a viable & active group for our local Senior Citizens, offering entertainment & companionship for the senior residents in our area.

General:
The Cooma Trip was very successful. The Commentry provided by the Coach Group giving lots of extra information about each of the areas visited.
March saw our new term start well and the talk by David Biggs on Thomas Lord Cochrane proved extremely interesting as Lord Cochrane was the role model for many of the books in the Hornblower Series and othe sea stories. Cochranes life as portayed by David was almost unreal, as he served with Navy's al around the world following democratic principles and fighting for the underdog.
Unfortunately our talk By Councillor Tickle has been deferred to th 9th June owing to Council Commitments.
Some discussion continues re the Croquet Court and it is hoped that when the spring arrives and the grass growing season is gowing again, the final rolling and fine mowing will begin. This will allow us to establish the organisation toget Croquet underway locally in Hallidays Point.
We are sorry for the long delay in getting back to the BLOG, but circumstances have not permitted us to update it before now.

Hallidays Point Seniors

Hallidays Point & District Senior Citizens Assn - NSW Australia

HP Seniors is located in Blackhead adjacent to the Lagoon Wetlands and has an active programme for Senior Citizens from the general location of Hallidays Point.

As an Association, it offers a wide range of activities based around the Knowledge for Seniors (K4S) programme developed by our association.

This is a programme of Social Activities including Bingo, Art Classes, Computer Classes and Bus Trips to local areas. The programme also offers talks on a wide variety of subjects from both our own members and outside lecturers plus discussion groups using our Open Forum format.

Our programmes are matched to local school terms to allow for the inevitable child minding operation most grandparents become involved in during school holiday periods.

Our K4S programmes and other items of interest will be posted here for all our members and visitors to peruse.

DO NOT FORGET TO LOOK FOR THEATRE TRIPS AT THE HALL.
